Rarotongas most popular mountain trek is the so called "Cross Island Walk" Most people start the trek in the Avatiu valley area on the right hand side of the rockface of Maugatea Mountain which sits at the back of Avarua town. You can do the trek by yourself but it is recommended that you go with a guide Pa recommends that you bring some drink of your choice & mosquito repellent.
